Policies & Procedures

Our policies are designed to ensure every dancer has a safe, focused and enjoyable experience at En Pointe Theatre Arts.

At En Pointe Theatre Arts, our commitment is to foster a nurturing learning environment where students can thrive. When registering, students and families agree to follow the terms listed here.

Any violation of these policies may result in dismissal from the studio without refund. If you have any questions about these policies, please contact us at info@enpointe.uk.

Code of Conduct

  • All students, parents and guardians agree to follow these policies upon registration. En Pointe Theatre Arts reserves the right to dismiss any student or family member who violates the code of conduct, without refund.
  • Any issues should be addressed directly and respectfully to the studio owner, Danielle Emms. If the issue relates to the studio owner, it may be referred to the appointed safeguarding lead.
  • All dancers, parents, instructors and staff must treat each other with respect at all times. Negativity and disrespectful behaviour are not acceptable.
  • Dancers are not permitted to take classes in genres offered by En Pointe at other studios or workshops without prior permission from the principal. This ensures consistency of training.
  • Choreography, costumes and music adaptations are the property of En Pointe Theatre Arts and may not be used or shared for any purpose outside of studio use.
  • Tobacco, alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited in or around the dance studio.

General Rules

  • No gum is allowed in the studio.
  • Proper attire and dance shoes must be worn at all times. Failure to observe the dress code will result in the student being excluded from the lesson.
  • Dance shoes must not be worn outside, as they can damage dance floors and introduce pathogens.
  • Students must obtain permission from the teacher before leaving any class.
  • En Pointe Theatre Arts is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Lost and found items will be kept for one month, then donated to charity.
  • Costume rentals are non-refundable. Damage to costumes during use will be charged once repaired. Purchased costumes remain the property of students and their families.
  • Refunds are not permitted for missed classes under any circumstances.
  • A 2-week notice period is required when leaving classes; otherwise the following month's fees will be applicable.
  • A £10 late fee is added to invoices not paid by the 1st of each month.
  • All injuries, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately.
  • Students must be collected promptly after their last class.
  • Attendance is vital. Please notify us via the WhatsApp group if your dancer is unable to attend.
  • En Pointe Theatre Arts reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher and to reschedule or combine classes when necessary.
  • When adverse weather occurs, please check the school WhatsApp group for closure information. Tuition is not refundable for weather closures.
  • Rehearsals and practice sessions are mandatory for participation in productions and examinations.
  • All music, choreography and photography used in classes are the property of En Pointe Theatre Arts and may not be shared on social media or with third parties without written consent.

Punctuality

  • Students must be punctual. If running late, please notify the school WhatsApp group.
  • Whether a late-arriving student is permitted to participate is at the teacher's discretion, with the student's best interest in mind.
  • Every class begins with a warm-up that is essential for injury prevention. Arriving late means missing this vital part of the class.

Dress Code

  • The dress code directs students to concentrate on instruction rather than fashion, aids technique development and promotes safety by allowing instructors to see the line of the body.
  • Hair must be worn in a ballet bun or crossover braids for all classes.
  • All removable items of clothing and shoes should be labelled with the dancer's name.
  • School hoodies are available to purchase by emailing info@enpointe.uk.
  • In accordance with examination guidelines: other than small studs, no facial or body piercings, watches, bracelets or necklaces are to be worn for examinations.
  • Please refer to the Uniform Guide for specific requirements by grade and discipline.

Communications

  • En Pointe Theatre Arts communicates via email and the school WhatsApp group. It is your responsibility to check for communications regularly.
  • Class times and schedules will be confirmed upon receipt of registration documents and monthly payment.
  • Monthly payments must be made by the 1st of each month. A £10 late fee applies to late payments.
  • Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, except if a teacher cancels and fails to reschedule a class.
  • En Pointe Theatre Arts does not offer free trials. We offer a two-week paid trial in recreational classes.
  • To withdraw from classes during a month, written notice must be given to info@enpointe.uk.
  • Entry to Pre-Vocational and Vocational classes is by invitation only.

Photography, Safeguarding & Medical

  • Audio recording is strictly prohibited. Video recording is only permitted with prior approval from Danielle Emms.
  • Upon registration, parents are asked to opt in or out of photographic consent for their child.
  • Due to the physical nature of dance, physical contact by teaching staff may be necessary. Please contact En Pointe Theatre Arts if you have any concerns.
  • Parents are required to give permission (for students under 18) for an authorised first aider to provide immediate first-aid treatment. Parents may opt out during registration.
  • Parents and carers must inform the teacher of any pre-existing injuries, medical conditions or needs.
  • Please be mindful of your dancer's personal social media accounts. Inappropriate posts that reference En Pointe Theatre Arts may risk dismissal from the studio.
  • Any communication regarding students or classes must remain private and confidential.
